Taking a break from culture wars

Pride events are happening in July, so this still is a good time to get vaccinated against Mpox.

Mpox, what we used to call monkeypox, was a big deal in May 2022. We gave about 1,100 vaccine doses at Trillium Health. Things started to quiet down. But there was a mini-outbreak in Chicago recently at a leather gathering and people started to sound the alarm again about trying to get ahead of this.

But better than listening to me drone on and on about vaccination, how about listening to my friend, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis. He was with the New York City Health Department and, among his current roles he coordinates the nation’s response to Mpox.

He’s also been to Trillium – giving us some in-service training in July 2017.

So as you watch my friend Dr. Demetre, I am going to sit here and drink a beer.

I bought an 8-pack of Bud Light, which as you know has been involved in the culture wars lately around transgender people and the company’s advertising. But I’m not going to get into the culture war. I’m going to drink some beer. It’s nice and cold.

Happy Pride.
